Outback

We flew into Adelaide, South Australia and then began our trip to the outback. We drove North in our ute to the Flinders Ranges. Most of the area on the was was rural and dry. We saw kangaroos and a variety of wildlife at the Flinders Ranges National Park. Our first night was at Rawnsley Park Station. We took a driving tour of the area that day and found a place to stay. The area is really pretty in it's own sort of way. We drove through the gorges the next day as we made our way North to Arkaroola. After leaving Leigh Creek we drove 130km on a dirt road...yikes. We were really in the middle of nowhere. It is very desolate, red, and dry. We saw emu, cockatoos, wedge tailed eagles, and kangaroos. The road signs are also quite amusing. It was weird driving on the left side of the road, but we got used to it pretty quickly.
We are about to begin our journey. This was where we picked up the ute from Di.Flinders Ranges.Flinders Ranges National Park is a very beautiful place.Of course we had to stop to pose with a kangaroo sign! This is the ute at Rawnsley Park Station. It has great storage in the back.A windmill in the outback. There were alot of sheep around too, but they didn't have much to eat. We saw alot of this road.
There are old stone huts everywhere in the outback- this one is in pretty good shape and I thought it had alot of character.More of the landscape near Flinders Ranges.
Giant tree along the way- they grow in the river beds.
More sheep!
The ute in action!

A flock of Galahs at Rawnsley Park station. They were everywhere and very noisy. We enjoyed watching them though.

Typical outback mailbox. They have soo much more character than ours.
